Overview
The “Connected” speaker system rethinks hybrid meetings by giving everyone in the room a personal meeting experience despite the digital distance. It adapts to any room size: the synchronised speakers can be used together, individually, or in any combination, which turns the acoustics of a meeting into something you arrange rather than something you accept.
Each unit has its own volume control for optimal participation, and every speaker switches between speaker and headphone mode.
Modularity
The components connect magnetically, so the system can be arranged freely and expanded indefinitely. Units can sit together for focused sound, be distributed across a room, or be attached to individual participants for personalised sound distribution.
Storage and charging
The storage box does more than hold the speakers safely. It charges them automatically and cleans them with UV light, so the set is always ready for use. It takes up to ten devices, which work together as a single speaker while docked. Lifting the lid switches the system on.
Making it real
The system was developed through 3D-printed prototypes and built out as a full installation for the thesis exhibition.
