Overview

In the course Universal Design Thinking we had to find a station in Berlin and rethink it as a universal space. In our research we learned about the specific desires and needs of people with impairments, and our goal was a comfortable waiting space that includes people of different ages and physical abilities.

The elements

A modular seating and standing concept that provides space for wheelchair users and offers better orientation for the visually impaired. It contains tactile guidance, footrests, haptic general information and bright contrasts, and it puts different waiting options next to each other — including a lean-on element for a short stay.

Case station

Unter den Linden is our case station, used to show how the elements can be implemented in a real setting.
