Overview

The second line of Selene. Two years ago I brought lace trims home from Sicily — now they have become a collection of chokers, made to be worn with a traditional Dirndl. Each one is finished by hand with beads, pearls and an adjustable chain clasp; every piece is a one-off.

Sicilian trim and Bavarian Tracht are not an obvious pair, and that is the point. The lace carries the ornament, the Dirndl gives it a place to sit.

Finished by hand

Hand-sewn pearls, a lobster clasp, an adjustable chain so one size actually fits, and a cotton backing so the lace sits softly against the neck. The details are where a trim stops being a material and becomes a piece.

Shop

The collection is for sale on Etsy under SeleneBerlin, packed in organza bags. Making the piece is half the work; photographing it, pricing it, packing it and getting it to someone is the other half.
